Nuremberg was the first international war crimes trial, and no rules existed for how it should be conducted. The four Allied powers established how the trial would be proceeded with the Charter of the International Military Tribunal, or also called the Nuremberg Charter. Some laws were already a part of the history of international law, but much of thelaws had to be laid from scratch by participants. Every effort was made to make the laws fair and it was important to make the the rules clear and public.
The Charter of the International Military Tribunal had six sections with 29 articles.
The first ever article from the Charter of the International Military Tribunal is about the agreement between the Allied powers and the formation of the International Military Tribunal which is just a long word for a court formed by the Allied governments. This here established the leaders including the judges and the prosecution in the Nuremberg trial.
